Good Bye Social Media https://www.listerphotography.com/blog/2021/1/good-bye-social-media I have been thinking about doing this for some time now, but the censorship activities of Big Tech have made my decision quite easy. Big Tech can censor, so can I.

My Twitter account has been deactivated, I never used it anyway. Did not really see the point to it. I am shutting down my Facebook pages, both personal and business.  I have been told by several people that you can make money on Facebook. But the only one I see making money on Facebook – is Facebook.  I am not about to put any money in Mark Zuckerberg’s pocket. I am keeping my Instagram account for the time being, but that will probably be gone with the rest.

So good luck to all of you social media warriors and keyboard commandos.

Done With Twitter https://www.listerphotography.com/blog/2020/8/done-with-twitter So I haven't posted to Twitter in quite some time. You would be safe in saying forever. So how am I doing? I am doing just fine, thanks for asking. Because of the policies of Twitter for censoring users’ opinions that doesn’t fit into their “politically correct way of thinking” box, I am done with Twitter. So I am offering other options, follow me on Parler @Listerphoto and on Instagram @listerphotography.

An aerial view of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD.

Fort McHenry is a historical American coastal pentagonal bastion fort located in the Locust Point neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. It is best known for its role in the War of 1812, when it successfully defended Baltimore Harbor from an attack by the British navy from the Chesapeake Bay on September 13–14, 1814. It was first built in 1798 and was used continuously by the U.S. armed forces through World War I and by the Coast Guard in World War II. It was designated a national park in 1925, and in 1939 was redesignated a "National Monument and Historic Shrine".

Let Me Say This https://www.listerphotography.com/blog/2020/6/let-me-say-this Let me say this about all the protests that are going on around the country. Agree or disagree with me that is your choice.

The First Amendment guarantees “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”  The key word in that statement is “peaceably.”

If you want to peacefully and lawfully assemble to air your grievances have at it.  I am all for it. But the minute you throw a rock, bottle, brick - you are not a protester, you are a rioter. The minute you assault a police officer or firefighter, attack innocent civilians, block highways, burn or loot a building – you are not a protester, you are rioter. Assault and destruction of property are crimes and you deserve to be punished.

As a retired law enforcement officer, I have been up close and personal with some of these “peaceful” protesters. More than a few of these fine upstanding citizens came to these peaceful protests carrying crowbars, swinging baseball bats and 2x4’s with 16 penny nails, throwing baseballs with nails in them. Spent more than a few days and nights dodging or getting hit with these wonderful things.

99% of cops are good people and just want to do a good job and go home to their families. Don’t judge all police officers by one bad cop.

As I said, if you want to protest peacefully, I am all for it. Just don't cross the line.

Each year youngsters ages 6-13 come together to learn, sing, dance, act and share their talents. The result has consistently been a complete, astounding show each summer.

After a weekend of playing with the new toys, I see a lot of great features in the Godox system.  However, I am not ready to give up my Pocket Wizard triggers, mostly because I have been using them for so long. Copyright Protection https://www.listerphotography.com/blog/2019/6/copyright-protection Profession Photographers of America (PPA) is working for photographer's protection.

For over a decade Professional Photographers of America has been working with Congress to establish a Copyright Small Claims process. David Trust, PPA's CEO testified in front of Congress, a little over a decade ago as to why having a small claims process is so important to many photographers. As it currently stands if a photographer's creation is stolen, they can file a claim in Federal Court. However, the average infringement claim is approximately $3,000 or less. Compared to filing a claim in Federal Court and hiring an attorney, which can cost upwards of $10,000. Leaving many photographers without a copyright enforcement remedy. Having a Copyright Small Claims method allows photographers to pursue Copyright Infringement in a more economical and time efficient manner.

Photo Copy & Retouching https://www.listerphotography.com/blog/2019/5/photo-copy-retouching Not long ago a friend of mine asked me if I could copy a photo of his wife who had passed away recently.

I told him that I would not only just copy it but that the copy would look better than the original.

The original image is on the left, the copy that I gave him is on right. Needless to say, he was quite happy with the result.
