"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever...It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything." -- Aaron Siskind.
We are so grateful for your interest in James Lister Photography. My mission in every photography session is to create a beautiful piece of art for you to enjoy!
Seems like I’ve done a little bit of everything. U.S. Air Force veteran, federal police officer (retired), Master level USA hockey coach, computer technician, certified professional photographer.
Many of my childhood memories revolve a lot around photography, taking photos from a very early age. In fact, I still have my very first camera, a Kodak Brownie Starmite, sitting on a shelf in my office to remind me of how far I’ve come. Many hours were spent in Dad's darkroom and then learning the wonders of the "digital darkroom" as new technologies emerge. My love for photography has not waned a bit...I think it is part of who I am.
I’m a member of the Professional Photographers of America, the oldest photography organization in the country with over 30,000 members in 60 countries. See that little badge down below that says, “Certified?” That’s not my mental state, it means I had to take an extensive written exam and have my work reviewed by Master Photographers. Only 6% of the PPA members earn Certification. To maintain my certification, I attend various classes and workshops about all areas of photography. I am also an active member of the Maryland Professional Photographers Association. If you’ve read this far, thanks for sticking it out!
