What Photographers and Filmmakers Need to Know About the FILM Act
Can you legally film in National Parks? If you take photos or shoot video on public lands like national parks or national forests, a new law could make your life a whole lot easier. It’s called the Federal Interior Lands Media Act, or FILM Act, and it helps protect your ability to create content without jumping through unnecessary hoops.
A Win for Creators: The FILM Act is Signed into Law
On January 6, 2025 President Biden signed the Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences (EXPLORE) Act into law. This act includes the Federal Interior Lands Media (FILM) Act, which is now the law of the land. After nearly two years of hard work and lobbying for this bill, PPA is thrilled to celebrate this big win for our members and all creators.

Simple Is Better

I have the Godox system, but I find that I'm using my 10-year-old Pocket Wizards for most situations. I am a firm believer in the KISS method - Keep It Simple Stupid.
